China Investments on the Rise
China investments are showing strong potential based on phenominal growth in the China markets this year. Foreign investment in China rose 6.4% in the first quarter of this year.

China is still opening parts of the economy to foreign investment after joining the World Trade Organisation in 2001, said Pei Changhong, director of the Institute of Finance and Trade Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. China completes its five-year WTO transition period this year.

For seven consecutive U.S. administrations, U.S. policy has been to encourage China's opening and integration into the global system. China has moved from being a relatively isolated and poor country to a key participant in international organizations and a major trading nation. China is the world's fourth-largest economy and the third-largest trading partner of the United States, with U.S. imports from and exports to China growing rapidly. U.S. policy is to promote trade with China unhindered by artificial barriers, to further open China's markets to U.S. business, and to encourage China to correct imbalances within its system, rely more heavily on domestic demand to stimulate growth, and complete the transition to an open, market-based economy.
This week, Chinese President Hu Jintao said the Chinese economy grew 10.2 percent in the first three months of the year compared with the same quarter last year, well above previous estimates. The nation's economy has grown at an annual pace of about 10 percent for the past three years.
